EndNote

This guide provides set up and usage guidance for EndNote bibliographic software.

Create a Library (Desktop)

Users must first email techsupport@siumed.edu and request to have EndNote 21 installed on a laptop or desktop computer.

Once installed, you can create your first EndNote Library:

  1. Open EndNote. A "Set up EndNote Library" window will appear.
  2. Click on Create a new library.
  3. Enter a name for your new library.
  4. Choose where to save your library on your computer. It is important to save your EndNote library locally on your computer, like in your Documents folder, and not in a cloud-based storage system (e.g. OneDrive, Dropbox).
  5. Click Save.

Create a Library (EndNote Online)

EndNote Online is freely available to anyone who goes to http://www.myendnoteweb.com/ and registers an account:

  1. Go to http://www.myendnoteweb.com/.
  2. Click on Register.
  3. Fill in required information. It is not recommended to register using a Facebook or LinkedIn account as this will prevent you from both syncing your online account with your desktop library and using Cite-While-You-Write tools.
  4. Click Register.

You are now ready to begin adding and organizing references in your EndNote Online account.
