Publishing Agreements at SIU

Southern Illinois University is now a participating institution in the Read & Publish agreement through Oxford University Press and Lyrasis effective 2025-2027. The Read and Publish agreement means you can read trusted, high-quality, peer-reviewed research from OUP’s prestigious journals collection and publish open access (OA) articles with fees covered by the Medical Library. 

Get your work published:

• Corresponding authors affiliated with SIUC and SIU SOM can publish an unlimited number of Open Access articles in 350+ OUP fully and hybrid OA journals during January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2027.

• SIU School of Medicine authors must submit their work using their @siumed.edu email.

What can be published:

• Accepted article types include Brief Reports, Case Reports, Research Articles, and Review Articles. 

How to do it:

• After your manuscript is accepted in one of the eligible journals listed in the link above, you will be asked to sign an open access (Creative Commons) license through SciPris.

Regarding Fees: If an author receives an invoice to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC)

If an eligible author’s article was accepted in an eligible journal during the period covered by the agreement, the author should not pay the APC invoice. The author is to inform Oxford that the article is covered by the Lyrasis Read & Publish Agreement and that the invoice should be voided. Oxford is unable to refund any APCs that are inadvertently paid by an eligible author. Authors should contact Oxford via the email address jnls.author.support@oup.com.
