The National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS) is a federally sponsored effort that annually collects and analyzes data on child abuse and neglect known to child protective services (CPS) agencies in the United States. The Children’s Bureau develops the annual Child Maltreatment reports, which include data provided by the states to the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data Systems. Reports are available online.
